Museum is closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Thanksgiving Day but open on Memorial Day, Labor Day and 4th of July.
The purpose of the Mineral and Lapidary Museum was to establish in 1997 as a place where children could go to see and learn about the Earth Sciences. The Mineral and Lapidary Museum has many displays from meteorites, fossils, the Great Trex, quartz, geode, Indian artifacts, dinosaur egg nest, and many others. There is also a display for cracking a geode. Other displays include the fluorescent lighting gallery.
There is no admission to the Mineral and Lapidary Museum.
