Henderson Heritage Museum features many artifacts from the Civil War. The museum is located on Main Street in the Historic Henderson County Courthouse. One of the exhibits at the museum is the "Golden Age - Coming of the Railroad". The Apple Valley Model Railroad Club has created a replica of the Saluda Mountain Grade which is the steepest main-line Standard gauge railroad in the United States. The Civil War Exhibit features artifacts of the military weaponry and the uniforms. There is also a replica of Hendersonville's first general store in the early 1900's.

Courthouse guided tours are given each Wednesday at 2:00pm. There is no charge for the tour.
